US Kath & Kim - Frist Promo Pic  
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kath & Kim here is what the original Australian characters look like:

Kim (Gina Riley) is on the left, Kath (Jane Turner) is on the right.

Kath (Molly Shannon) is on the left, KIm (Slema Blair) is on the right.

I think that Molly Shannon has the potential to make a very good Kath, as I have said before she has the right sort of manic energy to pull it off and the look they have for her is perfect, I can picture the Australian version of Kath wearing the clothes they have her dressed in here and I can also see the Australian Kath trying to update her hair and ending up with something like this.

Kims clothes are actually pretty good but the problem is that Selma Blair is too skinny to look bad in them, I can't make a judgement about how Selma Blair will work as Kim because I don't know enough about her as an actress.

I was going to mention how Kath's not going to be able to do many weight-jibes because Selma's thin. But I'm curious to see it; the US version will make it their own, y'know? Obviously because it's so culturally-dependent, half of our stuff wouldn't work for them, and vice versa. So it'll be interesting to see!

My ex-girlfriend is an American and she finds Kath & Kim hilarious, I just hope they don't do anything stupid like add a laugh track to the American version.

I'm very curious about it, I want to see how it all gels together.

Wow it does not look like Selma Blair as Kim seems really strange from that pic. She's a decent actress but idk i agree she seems too skinny. I can't wait to see the show to see what it's like. I'm not that keen on the Australian one because the jokes are just too obvious for me (that makes me sound like a real wanker haha). I can't imagine how the US version will work.

the Aussie versions of the characters look more "real" to me than the American ones, if that makes any sense (and I'm American)

It does make sense.

Characters looking more real is a general characteristic of Australian TV. There is a far wider representation of body types, ages and looks on Australian and British TV then there is in America where everyone is young, thin and attractive with very few exceptions.
